The Cistern Garden
One of the things that I was doing last week while relaxing is tending my small garden. I started working on this before derby weekend with a few seedlings inside. I managed to burn most of them off one day when I left them under a covering outside by accident. But I have re-started most of them and I even have one small tomato (about the size of a peanut m&m).
We have a bigger garden and Justin and Charis's place that I have worked in a few times. I am more excited about that garden because it is big and has TONS of stuff in it. My little guy only has a few varieties of peppers, tomato's, cucumbers and some herbs.
I guess I am doing this more because I am trying to change the way I eat and how I depend on things. As a child I was the pickiest kid you ever saw, and since I have started cooking in college my taste buds have expanded alot because I have started to learn what goes into things (I didn't have mashed potato's until I was 24). I guess the act of growing will be an incentive to eat everything, and not just make fajitas with it all.
My friends over at The Rock/La Roca have a sweet community garden. Their pastor, Aaron, uses it for some crazy evangelism. I have never seen anything like it before and I really want to implement some of their methods one day. Aaron really brings up great ideas about how a church garden is a great way to do kingdom ministry with people and impact their lives in a way that will last.
I have also been stuck on a new website, MyFolia.com. It has been described as a facebook.com for gardeners. If you garden you should go sign up. After you do that, add me as a friend (chadbrooks).
Well, thats my garden.
